Mt Rushmore Trip

We went to Mt Rushmore for the weekend with family (Dan and John's family and Grandma Dianne and Great Aunt Marianne) and met our best friends there -- Annie and Micah and their kids, who just moved to North Dakota.
The kids had a great time, unfortunately Annelise got so many mosquito bites, I thought she came home with chicken pox - luckily that was a false alarm.

Liesl was an angel for the trip and will be a great traveler (we had to test her out before we go to Texas).

On the way to Mt Rushmore, we we made a couple of national monument stops where Grandma treated them to pioneer paraphernalia, including bonnets for the girls passport books for the newest edition children, musket/guns for the boys, etc.

Annelise loves her little sister, it's like she has her own talking, moving, smiling doll to play with.

And, her mommy, Amelia, loves seeing her best friend Annie. We all took a tour at Wind Cave National Park - 200 feet under ground, 53 degrees, no flashlights pre-packed, but a great tour guide. Like my pink backpack? Good thing Annelise came prepared.

Ken enjoyed his first-ever visit to Mt Rushmore, and more importantly a week off from teaching at the university and putting his head around SOX in his new career at Kaiser.
